Baseball Recap: Minico Drops Highest Score of Season Against Wood River

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Minico). Everything went their way against the Wood River Wolverines on Friday as they made off with a 17-6 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their two-run performance the game before.

Cody Carlson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. He has become a key player for Minico: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Cofer, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Minico was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Minico moved to 9-12 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Wood River, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Minico beat the Wolverines by a score of 12-10 later that day.
