Baseball Recap: Kellis Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Buckeye, Kellis was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 15-10 win over the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their one-run performance the game before.

The team relied heavily on Alexander Maturino, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Moises Moran, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Maturino wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Kellis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Kellis' victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for La Joya Community, their record is now an identical 2-4.

Coming up, Kellis will welcome North Canyon at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. North Canyon will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Kellis surely won't give up without a fight. As for La Joya Community, they are taking a road trip to take on Youngker at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Youngker is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.4 runs per game this season.
