Baseball Recap: Classical Takes a Loss

Classical extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They came up short against the Juanita Sanchez Complex Cavaliers, falling 22-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Purple of the 7-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Classical saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Mazza, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

As for Juanita Sanchez Complex, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. That 21 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Juanita Sanchez Complex's side, Henry Trinidad was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Trinidad was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Isaiah Bento-Vasquez was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Juanita Sanchez Complex's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was George Padilla, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four runs.

Classical didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-1 defeat against Exeter-West Greenwich on the 21st. As for Juanita Sanchez Complex, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 7-6 win against Tiverton on the 21st.
