Josiah Railey commands the offense for Pioneers win

Recap: Watauga Pioneers vs. Hibriten Panthers

Even though the Watauga Pioneers have not done well against the Hibriten Panthers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Watauga strolled past the Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 57-42. Given Watauga's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Panthers are ranked 536th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Watauga's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josiah Railey, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Kohout, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Watauga has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Hibriten, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Watauga will head out on the road to challenge the Spartans at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive. As for Hibriten, they will be playing at home against the Patriots at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Freedom has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 185 points over their last three matches.
