The Battle Mountain Longhorns will challenge the West Wendover Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Battle Mountain knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully West Wendover likes a good challenge.
West Wendover's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Battle Mountain hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Longhorns' pitcher stepped up to hand Pershing County a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Longhorns have won 12 matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Aspen Swanger tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Addison Matheus was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Jazmin Johnson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Battle Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .667 or higher in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Wendover). They walked away with a 30-26 victory over Silver Stage on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolverines.
West Wendover got a massive performance out of Brisieda Haro, who went 5-for-6 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. Haro is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Yaretzi Saucedo, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and four RBI.
Battle Mountain pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. As for West Wendover, their win bumped their record up to 6-13.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Battle Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .778. However, it's not like West Wendover struggles in that department as they've averaged .652. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Battle Mountain's way against West Wendover in their previous meeting last Monday, as Battle Mountain made off with a 16-0 victory. Do the Longhorns have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
