Basketball Recap: Laurence Manning Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Cardinal Newman last Wednesday, Laurence Manning Academy came back down to earth. The Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats took a 32-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Florence Christian Eagles. If the Swampcats were looking for revenge after losing 39-37 to them when the teams met on Friday, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Florence Christian found their leader in sophomore Emerson Poston, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 22 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Poston has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Anna Kate Huggins, who posted seven points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Laurence Manning Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Florence Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Laurence Manning Academy will square off against Hammond at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Florence Christian, they will challenge Carolina Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
