Baseball Game Preview: Berry Wildcats vs. Sulligent Blue Devils

The Berry Wildcats will take on the Sulligent Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Berry has three straight wins, Sulligent has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Berry hadn't beaten Sulligent on the road since April 14, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Blue Devils 10-8.

Gage Hill made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Berry is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Hill was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lake Norris was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was John Wesley Scarbrough, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Berry's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Sulligent, their loss dropped their record down to 3-18.
