Preview: Bolles Bulldogs vs. Berkeley Prep Buccaneers
The Bolles Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bolles has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 224 points over their last five matchups.
Bolles can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Thursday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 52-18 win over Bishop Kenny.
Bolles relied on the efforts of Naeem Burroughs, who picked up 203 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and DJ Moore, who threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt. Burroughs' longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. Chase Collier also helped out as he racked up 104 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Berkeley Prep entered their tilt with Clearwater with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Berkeley Prep took down Clearwater 28-14 on Friday.
Berkeley Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joseph Troupe out in front who rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Troupe hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Nikhil Jefferson got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Berkeley Prep's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by titus bullard and Gavin Holman who racked up five sacks between them.
Bolles' victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points per game. As for Berkeley Prep, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Bolles has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 162.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Berkeley Prep struggles in that department as they've been even better at 241.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
