Baseball Recap: Mount Abram Has No Trouble Against Dirigo

Mount Abram won the last time they faced Dirigo and things went their way on Friday too. The Roadrunners put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Roadrunners, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Bryce Wilcox made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ash Rollins, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Kaiden Longley was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Mount Abram and bumps their season record up to 6-1. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 6.5 runs. As for Dirigo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Abram will face off against Hall-Dale at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Dirigo, they will square off against Nokomis at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
