Northpoint Christian came tearing into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins dating back to last season, and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the DeSoto Central Jaguars. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

The win didn't come easy: DeSoto Central scored at least 20 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 20-25, 29-27, 25-20.

Valerie Hurdle paced Northpoint Christian's offense, picking up 16 kills. Hurdle got some help from Sarah Johnson and her 38 assists. Hurdle was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Northpoint Christian's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for DeSoto Central, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3.

Looking ahead, Northpoint Christian is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against St. Benedict at Auburndale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for DeSoto Central, they will welcome Hernando at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
