Softball Game Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Mica Mountain Thunderbolts

The Mountain View Mountain Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Mountain View had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Flowing Wells on Thursday. Mountain View blew past Flowing Wells 21-4. The Mountain Lions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mountain View got a massive performance out of Danika Stoddard, who went 3-for-4 with five runs, three RBI, and one triple. The dominant performance gave Stoddard a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Mia Quinonez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI and three runs.

Meanwhile, Mica Mountain got the win against ALA - Queen Creek on Thursday by a conclusive 16-1.

Mica Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. Mountain View pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
