Basketball Recap: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Spanish Fork Dons
Even though the Spanish Fork Dons scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles still came out on top. Maple Mountain took their contest against the Dons 65-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Maple Mountain.
Maple Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matt Peterson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bennett Averett, who scored 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Spanish Fork lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aaron Dunn. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Leatherwood, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Maple Mountain pushed their record up to 9-9 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Spanish Fork, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.
Maple Mountain will head out on the road to square off against the Aviators at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Spanish Fork, they will be playing at home against the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
