Baseball Recap: Mumford Mustangs vs. Osborn Knights
Mumford extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 0-17 in the process. They came up short against the Osborn Knights, falling 20-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 back in April.
As for Osborn, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-3. Considering they have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
For Osborn's part, J Williams made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Williams was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, A Woods was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 12 games he's played. D Conway was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Mumford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Osborn, they are taking a road trip to challenge Harper Woods at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights are facing the Pioneers at the right time seeing as the Pioneers are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
