Softball Recap: Briar Woods Victorious

The Briar Woods Falcons had just enough and edged out the Brentsville District Tigers 4-3 on Monday.

Caprice Bohmer made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

In other batting news, Sophia Castellon was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Natalie Posusney was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Briar Woods' win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Brentsville District, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Briar Woods will take on Lightridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bolts will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brentsville District, they will venture away from home to face off against Handley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
