Softball Recap: Egyptian Pharoahs vs. Century Centurions

Egyptian had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 0-9 to make it eight. They lost 12-1 to the Century Centurions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Centurions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 last Tuesday.

Egyptian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rayah Huffman, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

As for Century, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Century's side, Layla Helman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up seven Ks. Helman has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Century got a massive performance out of Baylea Crain, who went 2-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those six RBI gave Crain a new career-high. Kali Crain was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Egyptian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Meridian at 4:30 p.m. on the 6th. As for Century, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-1 victory against Agape Christian on the 30th.
