Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of King Johnson and Amore Connelly Lead Freedom to Victory

Freedom won the last time they faced Alexander Central and things went their way on Friday too. The Freedom Patriots walked away with a 62-54 win over the Alexander Central Cougars.

Leading Freedom to victory were Amore Connelly and King Johnson. Connelly dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Johnson posted 13 points along with six assists and six boards. That's the most rebounds Connelly has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was KeAndre Davis, who earned three points.

Freedom smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Alexander Central still got an impressive performance from Jayon Connor, who dropped a double-double with 34 points and 12 boards. That was a full 63% of Alexander Central's points, marking the 14th time in a row Connor has had more than a third of the team's points. Jaheim Redmond was another key player, putting up two points in addition to ten assists and three steals.

Freedom's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Alexander Central, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Freedom wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 88-54 win against Hibriten on the 17th. As for Alexander Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-34 victory against Ashe County on the 17th.
