Basketball Game Preview: St. Francis Golden Knights vs. Loyola Cubs

The St. Francis Golden Knights will square off against the Loyola Cubs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Tuesday, St. Francis was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to Bishop Alemany.

Meanwhile, Loyola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 68-56 to Crespi. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Celts are ranked 20th).

St. Francis dropped their record down to 16-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Loyola, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 16-10.

St. Francis beat Loyola 54-44 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Does St. Francis have another victory up their sleeve, or will Loyola turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
