Baseball Game Preview: Arnold Marlins vs. Maclay Marauders

The Arnold Marlins will square off against the Maclay Marauders at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games Arnold has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, it was close, but Arnold sidestepped Providence School for a 4-2 victory.

Cooper Moss made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Moss wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Conor McCann, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave McCann a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Maclay fell victim to Riverdale and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 9-0 to the Warriors. That makes it the first time this season the Marauders have let down their home crowd.

Maclay's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Arnold, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Arnold's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's matchup. Arnold has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Maclay, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Arnold continue to outrun the ball?
