Baseball Recap: Saegertown's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Two

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Saegertown had no problem doing just that on Monday. They never let the Wilmington Greyhounds get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Panthers have won ten matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Blake Leslie, who went 1-for-2 with six RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Burchill, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The win made it two in a row for Saegertown and bumps their season record up to 15-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Wilmington, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-10.

Looking ahead, Saegertown will challenge Greenville on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 2.8, the Trojans 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Wilmington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
