Basketball Recap: La Plata Takes a Loss

La Plata was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Meadville Eagles, falling 76-51. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.

Carter Thompson had an outrageously good game for Meadville as he went 8 for 9 en route to 18 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Those 18 points gave Thompson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Meyers, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 16 points and six boards.

La Plata's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Meadville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season.

La Plata will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Novinger at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th. Meadville has already played their next game (against Green City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
