Basketball Recap: Pinewood Christian Find Success

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Pinewood Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 39-38 victory over the Brentwood War Eagles. The win was all the more spectacular given the Patriots' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the War Eagles are ranked 92nd).

Despite the loss, Brentwood still got an impressive performance from Bailey Barron, who posted eight points along with ten boards and seven blocks. Barron is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Rizner, who put up five points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Pinewood Christian, bringing their record for this year to 12-10. As for Brentwood, they moved to 16-5 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Pinewood Christian will take on Frederica Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brentwood, they will challenge Trinity Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Brentwood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season.
