Recap: Loris Lions vs. Dillon Wildcats
It was a good run, but the Loris Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dillon. The match was a 25-25 toss-up at halftime, but Loris couldn't quite close it out.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Janiya Richburg, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Richburg is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Mariasia Moody, who scored 13 points along with five assists and five steals.
Dillon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mariah Campbell, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Treasure Davis was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Loris' loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Dillon, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Loris will face off against Waccamaw at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Waccamaw is ranked 139th, while Loris is ranked 121st). As for Dillon, they will head out on the road to take on Aynor at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
