It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 54-45 win over Southern Nash. The victory was some much needed relief for Roanoke Rapids as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Shaniah Daniels was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 20 points, 18 rebounds, and nine blocks. Daniels is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alexis Bednarczyk, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Roanoke Rapids' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10. As for Southern Nash, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roanoke Rapids will take on the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northern Nash is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Southern Nash, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st.
