Softball Recap: Phoenix's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Phoenix had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They never let the Klamath Union Pelicans get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 13, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Rylie Johnson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carsyn Gallegos, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Charlotte Thull - Carter also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Phoenix pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Klamath Union, Mazama, and Mazama. As for the Pelicans, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phoenix will square off against Etna at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Klamath Union, they will face off against Mazama at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pelicans are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
