Baseball Game Preview: Ridge Red Devil vs. Montgomery Cougars

The Ridge Red Devil are taking a road trip to take on the Montgomery Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Last Thursday, Ridge and North Hunterdon finished up their match with a 2-2 tie.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Montgomery challenged North Hunterdon on Friday. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Lions 3-2.

Jake Hayes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on John Donahue, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Ridge's draw gives them a new season record of 1-0-1. As for Montgomery, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Ridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Montgomery in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devil since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
