Basketball Recap: Gatesville's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Gatesville lost against Jarrell back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Gatesville Hornets received a blow as they fell 48-34 to the Jarrell Cougars. The Hornets' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jarrell found their leader in sophomore Aniya Taylor, who went 7 for 17 on her way to 20 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Taylor has scored at least a third of Jarrell's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Erica Taylor, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Gatesville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Jarrell, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Gatesville will square off against Savio at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Gatesville's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so Savio's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Jarrell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against C.H. Yoe at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
