Baseball Recap: Spoto Comes Up Short

Spoto extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-3. They lost 14-4 to the Hillsborough Terriers. The Spartans were not able to make up for their loss to the Terriers from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.

Nathan Rodriguez was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Hall, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

As for Hillsborough, the win got them back to even at 2-2. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Hillsborough's side, Angel Smith made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Smith was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Taurence Harmon was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Marquis Thornton also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spoto will face off against Newsome at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hillsborough, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Chamberlain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
