Baseball Game Preview: Germantown Warhawks vs. Cedarburg Bulldogs

The Germantown Warhawks will head out to take on the Cedarburg Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Germantown will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Germantown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wisconsin's top teams: Whitefish Bay, who was ranked sixth at the time (Germantown was ranked tenth). The Warhawks had just enough and edged out the Blue Dukes 4-3.

Germantown got a great performance from Evan Lauer as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). Lauer has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Germantown saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Doug Wagner, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Thursday. Cedarburg put the hurt on West Allis Central with a sharp 12-1 victory. The win was familiar territory for Cedarburg, who have now won three matches in a row.

Germantown pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Cedarburg, their record is now 10-16.

Germantown couldn't quite get it done against Cedarburg when the teams last played back in May of 2023 as they fell 3-0. Can the Warhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
