Football Game Preview: Overton Mustangs vs. Tenaha Tigers + How To Watch

Overton is 1-7 against Tenaha since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Overton came up short against Grapeland and fell 37-27.

Despite the defeat, Overton got top-tier performance from Rylan Holleman, who rushed for 110 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 114 yards and one touchdown. Holleman also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making nine total tackles and defending four passes. Overton also got help from Jacob Osburn, who showed off his sure hands for 86 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Tenaha's offense. They were dealt a 51-0 loss at the hands of Lovelady on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1017th, while the Lions are ranked 375th).

Tenaha's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Overton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Overton against Tenaha in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 65-23 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Tigers' Brikelian Kenney, who rushed for 168 yards and three scores, and also threw for 101 yards on 13 of 25 attempts. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be easier for the Mustangs to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
