Football Preview: North Forsyth Vikings vs. West Stokes Wildcats
The North Forsyth Vikings will challenge the West Stokes Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
North Forsyth is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by McMichael at home to the tune of 59-0 on Thursday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 26 points or more this season.
North Forsyth got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Karon Lindsay out in front who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Amare Mitchell was another key player, gaining 58 total yards and two touchdowns.
North Forsyth wouldn't let McMichael keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. North Forsyth can thank Xavier Johnson and Eric Archie ,Jr for forcing all of them. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made seven or more in the last nine games he's played dating back to last season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, North Forsyth was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 300 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, West Stokes waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They strolled past the Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 24-6. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Panthers are ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lindann Fleming continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 152 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. His longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aydden Cherry, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
West Stokes' defense stepped up as well, laying out Jazay Millner. seven times. It was truly a group effort as Kobe Aaron Mcmillian, Noah Wilkinson, and Daniel Stanley picked up two apiece.
North Forsyth now has a winning record of 4-3. As for West Stokes, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Friday's contest might be decided in the on the ground. North Forsyth has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 154.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like West Stokes struggles in that department as they've been averaging 175.3. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
