Softball Game Preview: Spring Hill Raiders vs. Fairview Yellowjackets

The Spring Hill Raiders will venture away from home to challenge the Fairview Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Spring Hill comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Spring Hill lost 16-3 to Independence on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairview). They blew past Sycamore 13-2 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Fairview got a great performance from Ashlyn Corbin as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Corbin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fairview let Grace Fox and Allie Penning run wild. Fox went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI, while Penning went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four runs gave Fox a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cameryn Dunn, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Fairview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Fairview's record now sits at 9-17. As for Spring Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 0-14.

Spring Hill might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Fairview in their previous meeting on April 14th. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
