Preview: Tenoroc Titans vs. McKeel Academy Wildcats
Tenoroc is 1-9 against McKeel Academy since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tenoroc Titans will look to defend their home court against the McKeel Academy Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. Tenoroc will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 725th, while McKeel Academy is ranked 237th).
Tenoroc can finally bid farewell to their 16-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They strolled past Ridgeview Global Studies Academy with points to spare, taking the game 54-37. Tenoroc's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Tenoroc found their leader in underclassman Xavier Quiles, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Marquis Kendle, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, McKeel Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 56-50 to Bell Creek Academy.
Tenoroc's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-15. As for McKeel Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-7 record this season.
Tenoroc took a serious blow against McKeel Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 88-49. Thankfully for Tenoroc, Billy Heddon (who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
