Softball Recap: Central's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Central had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 6-12 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Clearfield Bison. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Riley Peterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alexis Fetzer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Aubrey Rhodes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

As for Clearfield, they dropped their record down to 6-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Clearfield's side, Eve Siegel and Haley Billotte stepped up to the plate in a big way. Siegel went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Billotte went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie McBride, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Central and Clearfield could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Dragons will take on Penns Valley Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (400 vs. 197). Meanwhile, Clearfield (ranked 312th) will meet Bellefonte (ranked 68th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
