Softball Recap: Unity Eagles vs. Cumberland Beavers        
        
		
            Unity extended their losing streak  (dating back to last season) to nine  on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They came up short against  the Cumberland Beavers, falling  16-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the  18-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April of 2023.
  Evelyn Fugate was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 2-for-3 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.  Madisyn Nalley also deserves some recognition as  she  got her first  hits of the season.
As for Cumberland, they moved to 12-15-1 with that  victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
On Cumberland's side,  Morgan Monchilovich made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run over four innings pitched. Monchilovich was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with one  home run, five  RBI,  and two  runs. Those  five  RBI gave  her a new career-high.
 In other batting news, Cumberland got a  massive  performance out of  Avery Johnson, who  went 1-for-2 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs. Those  three  RBI gave  Johnson a new career-high.  Presli Butzler was another key player,  going 3-for-4 with three  RBI, one  triple,  and one  run.
As of now, neither Unity nor Cumberland have any future games scheduled.
