Soccer Game Preview: St. Francis vs. Solorio

The St. Francis Spartans will take on the Solorio Sun Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

St. Francis is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Mansueto a 1-0 shutout. St. Francis' winning goal came courtesy of Ryan Callender.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Solorio sidestepped Muchin College Prep for a 2-1 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Solorio's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Muchin College Prep are ranked 328th).

Solorio has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those seven contests. As for St. Francis, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3-3.
