Basketball Recap: Sands Continues Road Dominance on Saturday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Valley, Sands was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They managed a 51-47 victory over the Garden City Bearkats. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Bearkats are ranked 899th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sands' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. As for Garden City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sands will be home for the holidays to greet Smyer at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will be up against the Bobcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 53.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Garden City will take on Seagraves in a holiday battle at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bearkats will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
