Softball Game Preview: Elko Indians vs. Dayton Dust Devils

Elko is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Dayton a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Elko Indians will welcome the Dayton Dust Devils at 4:00 p.m. Elko is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Elko and Lowry, and Lowry kept the tradition alive. The Indians took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buckaroos on Wednesday.

Addison Seipp made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kallista Crouch, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Dayton and Fernley meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Dust Devils lost 13-3 to the Vaqueros.

Dayton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Munoz, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Elko's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Dayton, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.

Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Elko hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Dayton struggles in that department as they've averaged .374. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Elko's way against Dayton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Elko made off with a 12-2 win. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Dust Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
