Softball Recap: Napoleon Comes Up Short

Napoleon was the 6-5 winner over Columbia Central when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Eagles on Monday.

Kaitlyn Fall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Napoleon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camryn Smilowski, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Another was Jenna Yob, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Napoleon now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Columbia Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Coming up, Napoleon will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Manchester at 4:00 p.m. As for Columbia Central, they are taking a road trip to square off against Jonesville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
