Softball Preview: Sanderson Spartans vs. Leesville Road Pride

Sanderson and Leesville Road are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Sanderson Spartans will square off against the Leesville Road Pride at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sanderson is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.

Last Thursday, Sanderson earned a 7-2 victory over Athens Drive.

Lily Thorpe was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Thorpe has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive pitching appearances. Thorpe was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Sloane Thorpe was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Meanwhile, Leesville Road had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday.
