Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Takes a Loss

Hillcrest lost against Stansbury back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hillcrest Huskies fell just short of the Stansbury Stallions by a score of 45-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Huskies have suffered since November 14, 2023.

Despite the loss, Hillcrest still got an impressive performance from Dayana Mulamba, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most boards Mulamba has posted since back in November of 2023.

Among those leading the charge was Apisi Maile, who went 7 of 14 on her way to 15 points along with eight boards and four steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Hansen, who posted six points in addition to ten rebounds and four steals.

Hillcrest's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Stansbury, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-5.

The future could be bright for both Hillcrest and Stansbury: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Hillcrest will try to hand Park City their fourth-straight loss when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Stansbury will try to hand Kearns their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
