Basketball Game Preview: Celina Bobcats vs. Van Alstyne Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Celina Bobcats challenge the Van Alstyne Panthers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday... Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Celina is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Sanger just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were outmatched by the Indians and fell 64-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bobcats have suffered since December 28, 2023.

Meanwhile, Van Alstyne came up short against Sanger on Friday and fell 43-34. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 627th, while the Indians are ranked 222nd).

Van Alstyne has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Celina, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Celina came up short against Van Alstyne in their previous matchup back in January, falling 76-65. Can Celina avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
