Basketball Game Preview: Cross Stingrays vs. Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors

The Cross Stingrays are taking a road trip to square off against the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cross is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Cross was beaten by Thomas Heyward Academy 63-32. While losing is never fun, the Stingrays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Rebels are ranked 137th).

Meanwhile, Andrew Jackson Academy beat Jefferson Davis Academy 60-53 on Monday.

Cross better keep an eye on Hayden McClung. He was instrumental in Andrew Jackson Academy's win, going 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. McClung has become a key player for Andrew Jackson Academy: the team is 12-2 when he posts at least five steals, but 2-4 otherwise. Vashahd Schofield was another key player, going 5 for 6 en route to 12 points.

Andrew Jackson Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.

Cross came up short against Andrew Jackson Academy in their previous meeting on January 10th, falling 78-69. Can Cross avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
