Football Recap: Hoopeston/Armstrong vs. Iroquois West Raiders

Hoopeston/Armstrong gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They secured a 20-14 W over the Iroquois West Raiders. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Hoopeston/Armstrong as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Hoopeston/Armstrong's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cole Miller, who rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, and also picked up 44 receiving yards. Miller got the majority of those yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible77 yards. Another rusher making a difference was RaSiah Jones, who rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.

Hoopeston/Armstrong wouldn't let Iroquois West keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Hoopeston/Armstrong can thank Miller and Jones for forcing both of them. Miller also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing a fumble and making 12 total tackles.

Hoopeston/Armstrong was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 234 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Iroquois West only rushed for 109.

Although Iroquois West took the loss, they still got scores from Christian Gaytan and Aaiden Miller.

Hoopeston/Armstrong will face off against Salt Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hoopeston/Armstrong is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for Iroquois West, they will square off against Watseka at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
