Softball Recap: Berkeley Yellowjackets vs. Hayward Farmers
Berkeley put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Hayward Farmers as the Berkeley Yellowjackets made off with a 16-1 victory. The win was nothing new for Berkeley as they're now sitting on three straight.
Addison Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Davis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Davis was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Berkeley got a massive performance out of Charlotte Kurre-O'Heaney, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, a run, and a double. Another player making a difference was Melody Castro, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
On Hayward's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Norman, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
The victory got Berkeley back to even at 9-9. As for Hayward, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Berkeley will head out on the road to face off against Encinal at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Encinal is coming into the contest with four straight wins at home, so Berkeley will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Hayward will take on Piedmont at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hayward is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
