Softball Game Preview: Ogden Tigers vs. South Summit Wildcats

Ogden is 0-8 against South Summit since April of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Tigers will square off against the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. Ogden has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ogden is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Grantsville, falling 16-2.

Meanwhile, South Summit entered their tilt with Juab on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Wasps. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

South Summit got a massive performance out of Adeline Aste, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Emma Broadbent was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

South Summit hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.

Ogden's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for South Summit, their record is now 15-12.

Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ogden has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like South Summit struggles in that department as they've averaged .508. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Ogden suffered a grim 18-7 defeat to South Summit when the teams last played on April 11th. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
