Softball Recap: Fairfield Wins Going Away Against Mexia

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairfield). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mexia Black Cats an 18-0 shutout on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.

Madelyn Morrison was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Fultz, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2.

Fairfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Fairfield and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mexia, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Coincidentally, Fairfield and Mexia will both be playing Buffalo the next time they take the field. Mexia will head out to face Buffalo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Fairfield will host them at 7:00 p.m. on March 14th.
