League recap: Beech tops Lebanon to extend winning streak

AAA District 9 recap Oct. 23, 2012

Beech extended the longest winning streak in AAA District 9 this week by beating Lebanon, 37-7. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Buccaneers.

Beech led the league in scoring this week after putting up 37 points on the Blue Devils. Lincoln Kenitzer threw for 75 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 59 yards in the win.

Anthony Crabtree's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Sam Landrith helped Beech's passing attack out by catching one ball for 29 yards.

Dametris Watson was the best wideout in the league this week as the Buccaneers topped Lebanon. Watson tallied two receptions for 39 yards.

Beech's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Buccaneers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kenitzer has thrown for 932 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Watson has 18 catches for 365 yards. Jalen Hurd leads the league in rushing with 1967 yards.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Mount Juliet and Wilson Central. The Golden Bears comes into the matchup ranked 20th in the state, while the Wildcats ranks 22nd.

The Blue Devils made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,952 from 10,013. The improvement was the result of 37-7 victory over Lebanon last week.
