Basketball Recap: Hampton Comes Up Short

Hampton easily dispatched Cloudland last Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Hampton Bulldogs fell just short of the Gate City Blue Devils by a score of 60-58 on Friday. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Devils earlier this season, when they won 65-46.

When it comes to explaining why Hampton lost, don't look at Tuff Robinson. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-11 to rack up 18 points and six boards. That's the most points Robinson has posted since back in November of 2024. Jayden Nave was another key player, putting up eight points along with six assists and six rebounds.

Hampton's defeat dropped their record down to 21-8. As for Gate City, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-11.

Looking ahead, Hampton will challenge West Greene at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hampton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.2 points per game this season. As for Gate City, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Abingdon at 6:00 p.m.
