Basketball Game Preview: Mount Pleasant Tigers vs. Albemarle Bulldogs

Mount Pleasant hasn't had much luck against Albemarle recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mount Pleasant Tigers will challenge the Albemarle Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Mount Pleasant is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by South Stanly to the tune of 70-27 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers who have now won three games in a row.

Meanwhile, Albemarle was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 65-59 to Union Academy.

Mount Pleasant's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Albemarle, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4.

Mount Pleasant was dealt a bruising 72-36 loss at the hands of Albemarle when the teams last played back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Albemarle's Amari Baldwin, who dropped a triple-double on 38 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 steals.
