Softball Recap: St. Edward Green Wave vs. Timothy Christian Trojans
After flying high against Timothy Christian on Monday, St. Edward came back down to earth. The Green Wave came up short against the Trojans on Wednesday, falling 11-5. The Green Wave were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 12-5.
Sarah Gurley and Layne Dawson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gurley went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Dawson went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Mackenzie Fitzpatrick also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
St. Edward now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Timothy Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
Looking ahead, St. Edward will welcome Chicago Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Green Wave are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Timothy Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Fenton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
